30 degrees: Do you know your propane tank level?

The first frost arrives in central and parts of eastern North Carolina this Thursday (11/2/23) morning, where temps are expected to hit 30 degrees around 7 am. It's about to freeze, do you know your propane supply level?

Ensure any plants you want to keep are covered or indoors, and please check your propane tank levels! This is also a good time to check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors for safety.

It is very important that you call or email us to schedule a propane delivery anytime your tank goes below 40% on the gauge. If you let the tank go lower than this, you risk running out if there are delivery delays, and some propane appliances can leak propane into your dwelling if they go under 10%. It is recommended that you never let your tank run out or go below 10%.

NC Discount Propane can usually be delivered to your tank within 7 business days of your order. However, at this time, due to high demand around first frost, some of our deliveries are taking closer to two weeks to arrive because this is the time when so many people order at once.

We monitor the propane supply chains, wholesale and retail prices, and any factors that affect delivery and alert you when we spot any issues.

So, this is your notification that propane deliveries may take longer to reach you than usual over the next few weeks due to high demand.

Also, with the very volatile situation in Europe and the Middle East, we could face new supply chain difficulties if these conflicts expand or escalate. Over the past few years, America's propane supply chain has experienced problems and delays due to driver shortages, pandemic illness, and hijacked pipelines.

My recommendation is that you go ahead and order a top-off for your tanks if you are under 50% at this time so you will be prepared for whatever may come next.
